COWBOYS KICK THE GIANTS BUTT!!!!
So the game was pretty AMAZING! Harold Jessie & Linda came up from San Antonio on Saturday night. Then on Sunday morning we all got up fairly early, ate breakfast that Frank made and got ready.
Harold, Jessie and Linda all wore Romo jerseys, I wore Barber, Aaron wore TO and Frank wore Williams.
I gave Ashley Amy and Austin some $ to do some Christmas shopping and get something to eat, then those of us going to the game loaded up and took off.
The first stop was going to see the progress on the new stadium. It was quite a sight. The thing is HUGE and absolutely beautiful!
WE WERE ALL PUMPED!!!
At this point we decided to head on over to TEXAS STADIUM even though we were VERY early. However once we got there we decided it was a good thing we headed that way since there was already a line at the gate (this was about an hour and a half if not more before the gates even opened!!!)
We met some really cool people in line... everyone was so nice. Jess Harold and Frank needed ice for their cups and everyone there was so willing to share. People were hanging outside of their vehicles. It was like the tailgating started before we even got into the parking lot.
Once the gates opened we were able to drive around a bunch of people and go right in because of our VIP parking. We chose a spot close to the stadium by the tailgaters. (tailgating was only allowed in certain areas of the parking lot) We had about an hour and a half before we could check in. So we hung out with all the hard core fans, watched other games on the TV's that were mounted in the back of the Miller Light tailgate trucks and threw a football around. Jessie does not ever meet a stranger... just a potential friend. :) So we had lots of people to talk to!!
Linda and I had to pee... we finally figured out how to get to the bathrooms only to find out that there was a "private" party going on in that area and we would have to pay $5 to use the potty. We opted to wait it out... after all it was only another 30 minutes at this point.
There was a COWBOYS pro shop that we looked through while we were waiting for check in. It had anything you could think of with COWBOYS colors and logos on it. It was a blue and silver haven! You could buy an official NFL game ball for $99.00.... we didn't :)
Finally it was time to check in. That part was a little confusing at first because we did not know where to go. Harold's first close up view of the field was pretty emotional for him. He is the reason i love the COWBOYS.... growing up with him as an uncle means you learn early on to love them!!!
Finally we found where we were supposed to be and got our field credentials and were escorted to the Bunker house. It is a room right across from the COWBOYS locker room. They had a reception there with drinks, food and Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders. Harold, Jessie and Aaron all took their picture with the cheerleaders. (We got them to sign our field credentials for Miss Amy) The food was AMAZING. there were crab claws (YUM) HUGE shrimp (m mm') beef tenderloin, little sandwiches, cheeses, fruits, crackers, assorted desserts, chips and dip. Frank, Jess, Linda and Harold had mixed drinks that they raved about Aaron had soda (which he rarely gets) and I had juice.
Then it was time to go on the field. There is no way to describe this. All I can tell you is it was AMAZING. We got to see all of the players warming up, and lots of other famous people... Jerry Jones, Rush Limbaugh, Pac Man, and Roger Stabach to name a few. Aaron and I got the high five the players as they walked back into the locker room after warming up, before kick-off.
We went to our seats right before kickoff. Aaron, Frank Harold and Jessie were on the 50 yard line in row 6 on the cowboys side.
Linda and I were in the crown suite. (after reviewing both seats, we decided that the guys defiantly had better seats for sure!) At first Linda and I had really crappy seats where we could only see half the field. Then some people down in front decided to leave right before the 4th quarter and we took their seats. MUCH better.... but still not as good as the seats right up front on the 50! :)
Cowboys scored first. :) and never lost the lead!!! Tashard Choice had a HECK OF A GAME!!! He came out of no where and made his mark. The gnats had 2 field goals and a safety while DALLAS got 3 touch downs. We made two of the extra points but did not make a 2 point after the second TD. The final score was 20-8.
The entire experience was AMAZING! The COWBOYS win after losing to the gnats earlier in the season just made it so much sweeter. This really was a do or die game for Dallas.... we are still fighting for our playoff spot. Will know more after next weekends games.
Being in the excitement of the game made the drop in temperature unnoticeable... however when we walked out of the stadium to go to the car we realized that it was FREEZING!!! haha There was a lot of traffic when we left but was not nearly as bad as I had expected. Being the only one with a drivers license that did not drink made me the DD for the way home.
Once we got home, all the kids were still up and Amy had Maddie spending the night. We recapped the game for them and then I had to go to bed. Work comes around early on Monday mornings not to mention that Amy and Maddie needed to be at Texas Motor Speedway in uniform the next morning at 7:00.
That brings me to the next subject. All of the Varsity Cheerleaders got to miss school on Monday to be at the final day taping of Extreme Home Makeover. The latest project was done for a family right here in Keller and one of the kids in that family attends Ridge. So the Cheerleaders went to show support, volunteer and of course yell "MOVE THAT BUS" or whatever it is that they yell.
I wish I could say that the experience was a pleasant one but..... well let me give you some facts. They had to be there from 8 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon. The temperature was in the 20's with a wind chill of 10-15 degrees. The kids were in uniform and the pants that go with their uniform are designed to keep them cool.... not warm. I tried to bring Amy and Maddie a hot lunch but since it was such an unorganized mess no one could tell me where they were, once I did find them so much of the area around them was barricaded that it was very difficult to get to them. Finally after a lot of frustration I was able to find them and gave them their now lukewarm lunch from Arbys.
Poor kids were all huddled in a group freezing their butts off.
I'm sure all of that nonsense will be edited out of the final show....
