changes....

barack obama is the president of the United States of America now. when i first started to type this up i was going to remind everyone that I DID NOT vote for him and go on and on about what an idiot I think he is... in small part because I am a sore loser I guess....

Then I started thinking about how annoyed I am with the voting policy in this country.... I can see why originally only land owners were allowed to vote. After thinking that one through... I could see how that plan although sound in theory at first... has plenty of room for error. We would see only the wealthy with land and then only the wealthy would be able to vote.... and the people who could not afford to buy land but put in honest work every day would not have a voice. (So maybe only tax payers can vote... who are current on taxes???? idk....) Idiots should not be able to vote.... but that is not the new presidents fault.

Finally I have come to my senses... I am grateful to be an AMERICAN and since my country voted Mr. Obama I will try my best to face the next four years with a positive attitude.... and lots of prayer. With the help of Heavenly Father, even Barack Obama can be a decent president.

As a proud American I am going to make a promise to myself.... I will allow the new president to show me what type of president he will be without giving off my own little temper tantrum in my own little corner of the world. This does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that I will be changing my political views... it simply means I will let him do his job and support the decisions he makes (within reason). I will show him the respect that the media and many others did not show to Mr. Bush when he was elected and then thrown into the middle of the 9-11 disaster.

Now I would like to say thank you to W.... I did not agree with every decision he made.... I think he spent a lot of money.... and his views on illegals leaves a lot to be desired in my eyes. However George W Bush was elected to do a job and he did it. He is an honest man who loves his family and has respect for his wife. He made decisions and followed through with them. He did not need a poll every other day to do what he was elected to do. He was thrust in the middle of not only a national crisis but really a global one and took decisive action. I appreciate that he did not have the attention span of a gnat. I am grateful that he and his family did not use the media or his position for their personal agendas. His integrity was more important to me than his ability to give speeches. Many were not kind.... the media was pretty much awful.... but... We were blessed to have him as our leader.

GOD BLESS THE USA.... and each and every one of us =] (only 2 years till mid terms!!!! :)

who would have thought....

so a few nights ago i am sitting in a cheer parent meeting at the high school. first 5 minutes is the board reporting on the things they do. then coach w took the floor and talked to the varsity, JV and freshman parents about state competition that is coming up in a week and a half. We discussed the travel, dining and competition arrangements. after questions the sub varsity parents left and coach w went over nationals plans with the rest of us. (bless her for getting that out of the way then so we did not have to do ANOTHER meeting in 3 weeks when we leave for Florida!) then the banquet committee met....

all i can say is WOW... there is a lot that goes into this stuff.... they must have spent 15 minutes discussing colors... and the lady in charge had it narrowed down to three before she even got there. they decided on black and silver... no gold since black and gold are the schools colors and they wanted to change it up a little..... um ok.... i thought they should throw some hot pink or some other accent color in there but was not about to open my mouth and lead us into a 30 minute discussion on an accent color.... anyway then it was on to the theme... again they had already decided... but it required discussion.... its a night in Paris.... i think that's a pretty cool theme.... we (me, the people i work with, my husband, the mouse in my pocket... idk what we is exactly....) are responsible for making 2 Eiffel towers.... one 7 feet tall and one 16 feet tall.... (this is what i get for not having an opinion in this meeting....) no problem. ill fit that in during those couple of pesky hours i waste sleeping at night :) HA (nah... i really think it will be fun. and the wonderful guys i work with have volunteered to help out!) so anyway there is a lot more discussion about blah blah blah... i don't really know. I'm confident that these moms will make it an amazing banquet and i really wanted out of this meeting (which i had been in for a couple hours at this point since we started with a board meeting) so i could go watch Amy cheer at the basketball game. as i am leaving we are told to turn in pictures we may have from the year... everyone of course looks at me because i am a tiny bit of a picture freak.

i inform those crazy ladies that indeed i did have a few and amazingly i ran into a streak of organization and the coach and lady in charge of the banquet slide show already had a disk with about 2000 pictures on them all categorized by game/event. dang it was nice to feel like you were on top of something around all those over-achievers!!!!! :) then i find out that my friend has posted the pictures she has taken on facebook. YAY!

now for the reason for this post.... so i go to look at these pictures. run a search... and there they are. But guess what? i must have a facebook in order to view them. so i set up an account and then all of a sudden i have all these friends of people i have not talked to in YEARS as well as people i talk to all the time. it was greatness. however.... it took me a while to find the varsity pictures again, but was worth it when i did. those kids are going to have quite an amazing slide show this year!!!!

anyway the facebook thing is neat.... i am amazed by it. (no... it really does not take much to amuse me.) I'm still trying to figure it out... but so far its pretty neat.

Have a great day!!! .... don't forget to click on the link in the previous post and VOTE FOR LIGHTNING!!! :)
PS also take a few minutes to pray...
my cousin is having a rough time with sad news this week... she has friends who are about to have a baby that wont live longer than a couple weeks, her uncle has cancer, her friend is going in for surgery, and her SIL's SIL is in stage 4 of cancer and has children at home.
also pray for our country. i think he is an idiot... but he was elected and we have to deal with it. it is important to pray for Mr. Obama, and his family. Pray that our Heavenly Father will help to guide him and our country. (remember we only have 2 years till the mid term elections when we can get control of the house again!!!) pray for our soldiers and their families. while you are praying for all of this don't forget your own family and friends. :)

CHEER POWER NATIONALS

so this past weekend was the cheer power wild west nationals in Houston. went down there with amy deanna and desi. met up with peggy. had a pretty good time overall.
the hotel we stayed in was nice but good grief they had a policy that made me insane. you HAD to give them your car keys. there was not anywhere that you could self park. of course i did not like this plan and they agreed to let me park my truck and then give them the keys saying that they would not move it unless it was an emergency. at some point there must have been some emergency that i missed. on sunday we got ready, packed up our stuff, checked out and asked for the car. then we waited.... and waited.... and after a while we waited some more. after about 20 minutes (that seemed like 4 hours since we had to be at reliant arena for the girls meet time) the head valet idiot comes up to me and says "do you have a code on your car?" and to that I reply "yes" and he says "well then i need you to go to your car" this whole time i am thinking okay why in the heck did you have to move it and how did you get into it to move it without the code but you can not get into it without the code to bring it back?!?!?!? ugh! frustrating! So they moved my car from the parking lot on the ground outside of the hotel to the 6th story of a parking garage. This would not annoy me nearly as much if the dang garage had not been EMPTY!!!!! wth. why did it have to be moved and then moved up to the 6th floor? So i walk up there get my car and drive to pick up deanna peggy and the girls. OH MY was I MAD!!!!!!!
(i did not tip them)

anyway after the first day of prelims we have a noonish meet time and a couple of amys friends from school that were in town met us at the competition to watch her compete.... LIGHTNING does amazing!!! then we went and got something to eat, walk around the galleria and find out that lightning is in first. =) YAY!

The next day we go to finals (after the car fiasco) and they compete again and hit everything except one stunt that did not go up. The girls are not too worried about it because they were so far ahead in prelims and the other teams were dropping stuff as well.

finally it is time for awards.

CHAMPION CHEER LIGHTNING .... 1st place.... &..... HIGH POINT!!!! =) =) =)

Peggy decided to ride home with us because the lady she rode up with wanted to leave after her daughter competed!! :) We all finish up competition business and then load into the car for the trip home. HOOOORRRAAAAYYYYY!!!! Wait everyone is hungry. ok lets get something to eat... drive through... head home. OH WAIT! not everyone can agree on one place.... ha ha. So we go through two drive throughs, feed the starving monkeys and finally head north!

this is about 9:30 at night. We had a nice ride home visiting but were so thankful to fall into bed when we finally rolled in around 2:30 in the morning :)
Woke up this morning, got ready for work/school and started all over again!

Next competition = next weekend! =) ACA Nationals in Ft. Worth!!!!
